A Mammoth in Monaco
This exceptional specimen is preserved at the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology of Monaco for scientific research (paleontology, dating) and exhibition purposes.
Unearthed in Siberia, 1,000 km east of the Lena River, several expeditions (from 1991 to 2003) were required to collect the numerous bone remains from the permafrost. These various remains, mounted on a metal framework, allowed the reconstruction of an adult proboscidean measuring 5 meters long, 3.30 meters high, and 2.20 meters wide.
